Bodhicharya Kent – Meditation and Reflection Evening

March 10 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

If you are relatively new to meditation and/or interested in finding out more about Buddhism, then this is a good place to start. The evening will provide an overview of the Buddhist perspective on life, including guided meditation sessions. We may watch a video and/or read from a book and then reflect on the teaching together. The general advice for attending these evenings is to come with an open, curious yet sceptical mind and take what you find to be useful and relevant to you in your life.

EVERY TUESDAY (other than the first Tuesday of the month)

We meet for longer meditation sessions plus follow and discuss a related topic from a book or a video by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche or other teachers.

Over the coming weeks we will continue with Shiné Meditation (Calm Abiding) and Metta Meditation (Loving-Kindness) instructions and practice for all those who would like to learn or deepen their meditation practice and bring its many benefits into daily life.

We are currently following Ringu Tulku’s new book, Meeting Challenges: Unshaken by Life’s Ups and Downs.

This volume presents his commentary on a teaching by the Third Do Drupchen Rinpoche, Jigme Tenpe Nyima, called Bringing Happiness and Unhappiness onto the Path.

‘If we can work within ourselves, practically and experientially, and come to know that sorrow and joy arise from our own way of reacting and do not depend upon what others say or do, then we become a little bit fearless. Only then can the depth of our comprehension and knowledge penetrate our being.’

‘The point is to watch our mind and bring it into order. The practice is to integrate our understanding with our life. And the purpose is to bring meaning to life, bringing peace and contentment to ourselves as well as others.’

The group is made up of the participants so active engagement, questions, reflections and discussion are welcome, however, if you prefer to just sit back, listen, reflect and take it in, then feel free. There are comfortable chairs and meditation cushions available.
