Rinchen, originally from England moved to the Caribbean when he was 22 years old and lived there in the Leewards during the 70’s and 80’s working on the islands and living the life of a lay Buddhist. At the end of the 80’s he moved to a Zen Monastery to train as a monk and Dharma teacher and was consequently asked to set up and run a Buddhist centre in Scotland in 1998, later returning to the Caribbean to teach in 2002. In 2009 he joined the Tibetan Buddhist lineage at a ceremony in Bodhgaya, India, and became one of Ringu Tulku’s monks. He runs Bodhicharya Caribbean, which spans the West Indian islands of Trinidad and Tobago as well as Antigua and Montserrat.
Rinchen regularly visits the UK in the summer and was our first visiting teacher here at Bodhicharya Kent back in 2013. Since then he has given many teachings including running day retreats for us. Some of these teachings can be found here.
